I was excited to the see the Colorado game on the tv set during primetime. Once again
I have to say that it is the Primetime effect on Colorado sports that secured
the luxurious time slot. The Cornhusker came out slugging. Colorado's counter punch was non-existing and the first half was a good ole fashion butt whooping.
My overall evaluation of Colorado's first half performance can be summed up
in one word—discombobulated.
40+ transfers on a team that is fighting for its own identity. The Coach has
an identity. His competitive and talented sons have their identity. A superstar
two-way dynamo, needs no introduction. But the rest of the squad remains
faceless. In a system that appears to thrive on personalities I think this defense
needs to develop one quickly. When you are in those trenches there is a pride
about battling the offense with man next to you. It can sometimes be an unspoken
bond between friends other times it's a motto or creed that drives the attitude.
I am not sure if the Buffalo defense has one. I am old school. I remember the
Purple People Eaters. The Wrecking Crew, The Doomsday Defense,The Steel Curtain. I could go on.
It seams to me that this new NIL/money making crop of current
college athletes need to meet with their PR department and
get themselves a rally cry that moves boulders. Pun intended. That Primetime spotlight is
hot and has very high expectations. As a team, inspire yourselves
to go out and meet the threat. Lean on each other no matter what name is on the jersey.
Know your job, do your job and a job well done will reward you with victory.
All the other accolades will fall into place. Winning time will always surpass Prime Time.
but together the possibilities are endless.
