A JackHammer (formerly known as a linebacker) is a versatile member of the Wrecking Crew responsible for demolishing the functionality of any offensive formation. Operating as the crew's most mobile demolition specialist, the JackHammer attacks every point of stability within the offense, ensuring no play develops according to plan.

 

Primary Responsibilities

The JackHammer's mission is to:

• Destroy any and all points of stability within the offensive unit.

• Disrupt running lanes before they can develop by attacking downhill with speed and controlled aggression.

• Invade passing lanes, forcing hesitation, incompletions, and turnovers.

• Pursue ball carriers from sideline to sideline with relentless effort.

• Make frequent and violent contact with the opposing team's foreman—the quarterback—inside his pocket of operation.

• Diagnose offensive intentions quickly and respond with urgency, precision, and physical dominance.
