BULLDOZERS
Wrecking Crew Position Profile: Bulldozer
A Bulldozer (formerly known as a defensive tackle) is a powerful member of the Wrecking Crew responsible for demolishing the interior of every offensive formation. Stationed at the heart of the defensive front, the Bulldozer's mission is to collapse the opponent's foundation by overwhelming the offensive line with strength, leverage, and relentless force.
Primary Responsibilities
The Bulldozer's mission is to:
-
Apply disruptive pressure at the center and adjacent points of the offensive formation.
-
Dominate interior gaps by driving offensive linemen backward and destroying the line of scrimmage.
-
Eliminate interior running lanes before they can develop.
-
Collapse the pocket from the inside, forcing the opposing foreman—the quarterback—to abandon his plan of operation.
-
Occupy multiple offensive workers, allowing fellow Wrecking Crew members to operate freely.
-
Anchor the defensive front and prevent the offense from establishing a stable foundation.
Wrecking Crew Standard
A Bulldozer is the engine that powers the Wrecking Crew. By creating relentless pressure through the interior lanes, the Bulldozer enables high levels of JackHammering, allowing linebackers to attack freely while restricting the opposing offense's ability to advance. Every snap begins with the Bulldozer destroying the foundation upon which every offensive play is built.
Motto: Own the Middle. Collapse the Foundation. Clear the Way for the Crew.
